I was ready to buy a new computer and now I'm perfectly happy with this one again. Really not a hard job unless you rush it or are ham-handed. It seemed really finicky but, again, with a lot of patience and gentle attempts it finally seated itself to be pressed in. The two hardest parts were getting the power supply unplugged from the back of the motherboard because that sucker is in there tight, and then getting that teeny, tiny WiFi antenna back in too a while. Either know the exact steps or have a video going right in front of you, and keep track of all those little screws.

It took maybe 45 minutes to do the whole job, if even that. I had a good idea of what I was doing becuase I watched a decent amount of vids. Then it's just the patience of doing the physical work. That took close to 5-6 hours, so plan on that taking A LONG time. I erased and formatted the drive, then used CCC to clone the old HD onto this one. There are clear instructions online for how to do this. I have changed out several components such as RAM, HDDs, etc., over the years in various older MacBooks/Powerbooks and desktops but this is CHALLENGING. I would say two things: DONT DO IT UNLESS YOU ARE VERY EXPERIENCED. Once I was satisfied with the size, I put the new SSD into a new enclosure for 2.5" drives and downloaded the trial version of Carbon Copy Cloner. Here is my experience adding a second drive (Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB) to my Mac Mini Late 2012. Removed as much stuff from my hard drive as I could over to my external HD.

There was one video that was REALLY good that I found the most helpful, but searching my YouTube history, I can't find it now. I bought an antistatic mat, a set of cheap case opening tools on Amazon that wasn't really necessary, blah blah. Yeah, it went GREAT! I watched several videos on YouTube to have a good idea of how to do it.
